Mary Beth Hazeldine is Passionate About State of Mind

The unique combination of my business experience and training/coaching background enables me to deliver tangible results for my corporate clients. An understanding of the Principles behind State of Mind has changed my life and I am passionate about sharing them with anyone who will listen, but particularly in the corporate world and with teenagers.

Prior to starting Pure Potential Consulting, I had quite a varied career. I spent 18 years in the financial services sector, advising multinational clients while working for JPMorgan Chase, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Commerzbank in New York, Frankfurt and London. I then left financial services to pursue a dream of running my own restaurant in Spain (more on that later), but an offer I couldn't refuse found me returning to the City of London for another 4 years to help Commerzbank set up a new Credit Portfolio Management group and to work on the merger with Dresdner Bank.

I grew up in Hobart, Indiana but my interest in languages soon found me on various exchange programmes to Europe. Once I was bitten by the travel bug, I never let the moss grow under my feet for very long. I've lived in New York (where I started my banking career), Hamburg Germany (where I went to University and later worked as an English Teacher), Frankfurt Germany (working for Commerzbank) and 16 years in London.

We had a holiday apartment in Spain, so one day my husband and I decided to pursue a dream on our bucket list and move to Spain to run a restaurant. Neither of us had done anything like that before, but we flew to Spain and put down a deposit on both a house and a restaurant in one weekend. We moved to Mojacar, Almeria in 2003 and ran the Restaurante El Cortijo on La Parata for 5 years. It was hard work, but I loved every minute of it. The disappointment came from being let down by staff, who we treated well, and chefs leaving us every 12-18 months to move on. The loss of each chef had ME working in the kitchen doing 40 covers a night and honing my culinary skills. When we were approached about leasing the restaurant, we decided it was time to move on.

I then made the decision to pursue my life-long interest in psychology and teaching so I re-trained and earned qualifications in counselling, coaching, hypnotherapy, and NLP. I set up 2 businesses - one as a Corporate Trainer/Executive Coach and another as a Clinical Hypnotherapist/Counsellor. I have a practice in Harley Street, London, I've been on the assisting team for Paul McKenna at various events in London, and my work has been featured in the Daily Mail, the Sunday Times and on Bay Radio.

I have no shortage of degrees and qualifications, but I'm not the type to put letters after my name:

  • MBA Finance & International Business
  • BA Psychology & German
  • Diploma in Counselling
  • Diploma in Life Coaching
  • Diploma in NLP
  • Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist
  • Licensed NLP Practitioner
  • Licensed NLP Master Practitioner
  • Havening ADT (HADT) Practitioner
  • Certified Assistant Trainer of HADT
  • Certified Transformative Coach
  • Certified Advanced Transformative Coach
  • MBSR Programme (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction)

While attending Michael Neill's Supercoach Academy in Los Angeles in 2011, I was introduced to a new psychological paradigm, which explains how the mind works.  I continue to deepen my understanding of these Priniciples behind State of Mind to this very day.

Don't let the credentials lead you to believe that I am any better than you.  I'm here on this earth having a human experience just like you are. You won't find me giving you advice or telling your what to do. Our relationship is a partnership from start to finish. You are the expert on YOU and YOUR BUSINESS and I am there to help guide you on your journey to finding solutions and having insights and realisations of your own.

I'm the girl next door, a wife, a step-mother and a grandmother (yeah, I know that is hard to believe). I've been married for 18 years to my soul-mate and best friend, Nick. I have 3 step-sons, 6 beautiful grandkids and a crazy Black Labrador named Mr. Bojangles.

I fly-fish and deep sea fish with my husband and we represented England in the Marlin World Cup in Mauritius for 10 years. I love travelling, photography, food & cooking, dogs, playing the guitar and keyboard, reading and writing non-fiction. Oh, and I love to dance! I go to Zumba 5x a week and I teach my own Line Dancing class.

However, my life has not always been a bowl of cherries. Like everyone else, I have had my share of crosses to bear. My first marriage of 13 years to an alcoholic ended in divorce. I was made redundant twice in my career and both times this resulted in me losing my self-confidence and developing insomnia and claustrophobia. In 2013, I lost both of my parents just 6 1/2 weeks apart.

Let's face it, life has its ups and down, and no one is excluded or immune from this. Helping businesses, teens and others to get through those challenging times and to pursue the life of their dreams is my purpose in life and I am passionate about sharing the Principles behind State of Mind.
